Theme of Testing Testing 1…2…3
It is important to have someone who understands you. Mrs. Whittamore understood the way that Patrick learned, so she made him take his own time to study for tests without getting forced to do so. (As Patrick Said in the book.)*
Patrick was happy because someone understood him and knew that he was different.**Mrs. Whittamore made Patrick aware of his duties and know what he was capable of doing.
*Patrick said, “Boy, can I see how important it is to have someone who understands you. Thanks to Mrs. Whittamore’s understanding of how I learned, I took my own time in finishing those standardized tests.”
**Mrs. Whittamore said how she had noticed Patrick as a child. He was the only one who did not gawk or leave roots or throw rotten eggs; and she had heard the questions that Patrick had.
